Take Action

The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Genesis 2:15

God commands us to be stewards of the earth. Our mishandling His resources has a ripple effect that impacts us all, especially the “least of these” in poor nations.

Here are five steps anyone can take to become a better steward of the environment.

1) Use compact florescent energy saving bulbs: If every home in America replaced just five regular bulbs with these, we could save energy equivalent to 21 coal burning power plants.
2) Reduce, reuse, and recycle: Choose reusable products instead of disposables. Buy products with minimal packaging. Recycle paper, plastic, newspaper and aluminum cans.
3) Insulate your home: Add insulation to walls and roof, install weather stripping and caulk windows. You could save more than 25 percent in heating costs.
4) Be thrifty with heating and cooling: Turn down the heat at night or while away during the day, and aim for moderation with heating and cooling at all times.
5) Buy energy-efficient products: When it’s time to buy a car, choose one that gives you the best gas mileage. Choose energy efficient appliances.
